Ana Cristina Henríquez

Ana Cristina Henriquez is an award-winning bilingual writer, filmmaker, and multidisciplinary creator based in the United States. After obtaining a master’s in Cinematic Arts from the University of Southern California (USC), she has excelled as a script consultant, documentary filmmaker, and producer of television programs for National Geographic, the BBC, and RCTV.

Her documentaries have won international awards, including Deep into Canaima and Freshwater Lands. The latter was presented at the United Nations. She has also produced the television series Viajando con Polar (Travelling with Polar) and Expedición (Expedition), which focus on the natural world.

As a winner of the Fonds Sud Programme, she produced, directed, and wrote the award-winning feature film Full Moon, a France/Venezuela co-production. Some of her work as a producer includes Wild Chronicles for National Geographic Television and BBC´s Serious Explorers and Dark.

As a bilingual script consultant, Ana Cristina has successfully coached clients on projects with notable companies, including the National Film Board, RCTV (Venezuela), Televisa (Mexico), Ars Media (Spain), Off the Fence (NL), History Channel (UK), CIC Media, Coverfly, and Telemundo Global Studios (USA), among others.

Ana Cristina Henríquez has also excelled in literature. She has published two poetry collections: Las puertas del sueño (Gates to Dreams, 2019) and Párpados entreabiertos (Half-Open Eyes, 2021). The latter won Honorable Mention for Best Poetry Book at the 2022 International Latino Book Awards. In Solentiname: Encountering a Myth (2022), Henríquez combines her literary and journalistic work to explore the life of the Nicaraguan poet Ernesto Cardenal and his legendary community of Solentiname in the 1970s. This publication won the Bronze Medal for Best Art Book at the 2022 International Latino Book Awards (ILBA). The Moon, Julia, and the Telescope won the Best Fiction Children’s Picture Book award at ILBA in 2023 and the La Nota Latina award. In this heartwarming book, the author takes us into the fascinating world of a young girl.

Ana Cristina has distinguished herself as an educator, earning a master’s degree in Teaching from Nova Southeastern University (NSU). She has taught screenwriting and film courses at Andrés Bello Catholic University (UCAB) in Venezuela, as well as Spanish language at several educational institutions.

Her publications have appeared on Amazon’s bestseller lists several times and are distributed in over 20 countries.
