Director: Ana Cristina Henríquez

Synopsis
LAS TURAS is, essentially, and indigenous agrarian rite which has survived keeping its sense of fecundity, tribute and gratitude to mother earth and of invocation for the favors of powerful spirits who are responsible for good harvests. It is also one of the few traditions that remain faithful to its indigenous origin within the Creole adaptation of its external elements which is the main explanation of the remarkable magical sense it still maintains. From a dance in gratitude to nature, the inhabitants of Mapararí, in Falcón State, turned Las Turas into a dance for a promise offered to the Virgin of Las Mercedes, a virgin that popular fervor turned into a «turera».
